9th International Workshop

Weighted Automata: Theory and Applications

WATA 2018
May 22–26, 2018, Leipzig, Germany

The workshop covers all aspects of weighted automata, ranging from the theory of weighted automata and quantitative logics to applications for real-time systems and natural language processing. The aim is to present tutorials and survey lectures by outstanding scientists in this area. We invite everybody to participate in this workshop without fee and to present their own technical contributions in this area.

Call for Participation

Interested participants are most welcome. If you wish to present a technical contribution, please send an abstract (preferably of at most one page) by March 8, 2018 to wata2018@informatik.uni-leipzig.de. These contributions do not count as publications; submission of relevant, already published or submitted results is allowed. Authors will be informed about acceptance of their submissions by March 22, 2018.

Call for Papers

There will be a special issue of an international journal on the topics of this workshop. Participation in WATA 2018 is encouraged, but is not a prerequisite for a submission. Submissions can be either original research papers or surveys. All submissions will be refereed according to the usual high journal standards. We intend to ensure a quick refereeing process. Details will be announced later.

Registration and Financial Support

The registration deadline is April 2, 2018. There is no registration fee. In order to register, please send your name, affiliation, e-mail address, intended length of participation to wata2018@informatik.uni-leipzig.de and state if you want to attend the conference dinner (not for free) or not.

There are limited resources to partially compensate the travel expenses of participating Ph.D. students and young scientists. Please, contact us by March 8, 2018 at wata2018@informatik.uni-leipzig.de to give us enough time to make a fair decision.

Informal Get-Together and Conference Dinner

On Monday, May 21, 2018 (public holiday), at 19:00, there will be an informal get-together.

Travel Information

From Airport Leipzig-Halle there is an Airport Express operated by Deutsche Bahn and regional trains in a 30-minutes-cycle. The journey lasts 13 or 19 minutes (for S5 X and S5, respectively) and the fare is 4,60 Euro. You can purchase tickets directly at the train station or online via DB (choose "Leipzig/Halle Flughafen" to "Leipzig Hbf").

There are taxi stands in front of Terminal B at the airport and in the city center of Leipzig, e.g., in front of the main railway station. The travel from the airport to the city center takes about 30 minutes and costs about 30 Euro.
