Public Data

This page provides data sets that are publicly available for research use. It attempts to document, collect and/or reference various CFD and medical datasets, to facilitate research in medical and flow visualization. Most of the data sets can be easily loaded an viewed with the free visualization system OpenWalnut.

Data Formats

The data sets are provided in one of the formats listed in the following table. If you have problems converting data between some of the formats do not hesitate to ask us for help (for contact information see below).

Category Format Suffixes Additional Information
General data format VTK legacy .vtk
Medical data format DICOM .dcm
Standard MRT file format NIfTI .nii/.nii.gz NIfTI FAQ, data alignment, image dimensions, Tools
Standard EEG recording file format CNT .cnt
Standard EEG channel location file format ASA electrode or EETrak .elc
Fiber file format VTK legacy .fib Same as MedINRIA uses

Data Sets

Please see the corresponding README files and the Acknowledgement section below for the copyright and usage instructions for the different data sets.

For medical data sets the subject is indicated by two letters, e.g. xa and xw. These letters are only faintly related to the names of the subjects. Data sets in different categories can originate from the same subject.
