Welcome to WATA 2014

The workshop should cover all aspects of weighted automata, ranging from the theory of quantitative automata and logics to applications for real-time systems and natural language processing. The aim is to present tutorials and survey lectures by outstanding scientists in this area. Moreover, we encourage everybody to participate in this workshop and to present their own technical contribution in this area.

Call for Participation

Interested participants are most welcome. If you wish to present a technical contribution, please send us an abstract (preferably of at most one page) until March 7. These contributions do not count as publications, and submission of relevant, already published or submitted results is allowed. Authors will be informed about acceptance of their submission before March 22, 2014.

Registration and financial support

Deadline for registration is April 4, 2014. There is no registration fee. In order to register, please send your name, affiliation, e-mail, intended length of participation to droste@informatik.uni-leipzig.de and state if you want to participate in the conference dinner (not free) or not.

There are limited resources to partially compensate the travel expenses of participating Ph.D. students and young scientists. Please, contact Manfred Droste until March 7, 2014 such that we can make a fair decision.

Informal get together, Excursion, and Conference Dinner

On Sunday, May 4, starting at 19.00, there is an informal get-together with the possibility for dinner or drinks at Gasthaus Alte Nikolaischule, Nikolaikirchhof 2 in the center of Leipzig, next to Nikolaikirche.

Our conference dinner is planned for Wednesday, May 7, starting at 19.00, at the historic Auerbachs Keller, Mädler Passage, Grimmaische Strasse 2-4.

On Friday, May 9, starting at 12.30 right after WATA, for everyone who is interested we plan to have lunch at the Panorama Tower, Augustusplatz, right next to the main university building and about 120 m above ground (and with hopefully good weather for the view).

In each case, ask for "WATA".

Travel information:

From Airport Leipzig-Halle there are two trains you can take to reach Leipzig main station. They leave at 7 and 23 minutes on the hour from the airport. The trip lasts approximately 15 minutes. The price of a ticket is 4.20 € or 6 €. You can purchase tickets directly at the train station or online via bahn.de. Choose "Leipzig/Halle Flughafen" to "Leipzig Hbf".

There are taxi stands in front of Terminal B at the airport and in the city centre of Leipzig, e.g. in front of the main railway station. It takes you about 30 minutes to travel to Leipzig main station. The journey to Leipzig main station from the airport will cost about 30 Euro.

If you plan to use trams or buses every day, you may consider buying a seven-day ticket (21,10 €).
