Application for
"Master of Science - Computer Science"
Prior to the application, the University of Leipzig needs to know whether you are qualified to
enroll in the "M.Sc. in Computer Science" course. Everyone can apply for the course at the main
web site
of the University of Leipzig, who has passed the Enrollment Qualification Test (Eignungsprüfung).
There you will find all the necessary information regarding the Enrollment Qualification Test
including the date and additional requirements. In case questions arise, please turn to the Institute
of Computer Science. You can also download

Certification of already acquired academic degree(s) - if any

Certification of all completed modules (or acquired credits), this should sum
up to at least 120 credits. It can be obtained at the registrar's office
(Prüfungsamt)

Any certification of practical experiences, internships and jobs related with
the course of interest.

The admission is granted to applicants who meet the following requirements:

minimum of 10 ECTS points in courses
Operating Systems, Communication Systems and Computer Engineering
-
minimum of 20 ECTS points in
Software Development, Programming and Programming Concepts
- minimum of 5 ECTS points in
Algorithms and Data Structures
-
minimum of 25 ECTS points in
Theory of Computer Science and Mathematics
- additional 30 ECTS points in
any other Computer Science related courses/modules

The admission is not granted to applicants who do NOT meet the following requirements:
-
minimum of 10 ECTS points in courses
Operating Systems, Communication Systems and Computer Engineering
- minimum of 10 ECTS points in
Software Development, Programming and Programming Concepts
- minimum of 5 ECTS points in
Algorithms and Data Structures
- minimum of 25 ECTS points in
Theory of Computer Science and Mathematics
- additional 20 ECTS points in
any other Computer Science related courses/modules
No specific schema is used as criterion in the evaluation of the applications.
Any outcome of the evaluation is the result of an overall review of the
materials submitted.

If the committee decides that the information submitted is insufficient to
meet a decision, the applicant is invited to a 30-minute interview.

A 30-minute oral exam. The exam is conducted with the goal to determine
the applicant's prerequisite knowledge for a successful participation in the
course.

Application for an appointment on a date NOT appointed by the committee
is accepted only in written form by the exam committee. An appointment at
a different date may be arranged if the applicant
- is ill or
- has taken or has to take a parental leave or
- is abroad for an extended period of time due to studies or
- is currently serving in the military or is engaged in civil services.

A successful Enrollment Qualification Test doesn't guarantee an admission.
-
The result of the Enrollment Qualification Test is valid for two years.
-
In special cases mentioned above the validity of the test can be extended to
maximum three years by the decision of the Enrollment Qualification Test
Committee.
-
In case of a negative answer the reasons for such a decision will be
explained.
-
In case of a disagreement with the decision of the committee, the applicant
must apply for a review of his matter within one month after receiving a
response from the committee.
-
The Enrollment Qualification Test Committee must meet a decision
regarding the objection within three months.
